HEART BE WILD

in times of scarcity
the city shows its jaws
and makes a scar of your heart
and tender are its laws.

I have seen the spirit drain
from something I love.
I have.
I have because I have feared it.
I have let my heart be wild.

I have seen my face in the mirror
when I feel mean
and I am ugly when I fear.

I am ugly when the spirit
it runs from me.

the city it runs through me.
the winds of change will come for us.

in times of scarcity
the city shows its scars
and makes a clenched jaw
of all the shiny cars.

and I have wandered
alien places amongst strangers
who have remained strangers.

I have wandered looking for something
I could not find
will never find.

I have gazed into
thousands of pairs of eyes.
I have gazed into
thousands of distant stars
looking for something that wasn’t mine.

the winds of time,
the heart it chimes.
the winds of change have come for us.

perishing city, perishing men.
you do not know where the wind blows
but you know that it’s blowing.
perishing city, perishing light.
the winds of change are coming for us.

in times of scarcity
I wander along the edge of the city in a long dress
to feel the long grass caress my ankles
and observe how the wind permeates nature
and I wonder if it moves through me the same.

how far away is my inner nature?
it is so far away inside of me.

inside of this city of bone and vessel.
perishing light.

the city it runs through me.
I have let my heart be wild.
the winds of change have come for me.
