Resonance Reading Series hosts its second 7pm event with Russian poet, Sergey Gandlevsky. He will share poetry in the original Russian and English translation, joined on stage by Mikhail Iossel.
Sergey Gandlevsky (b. 1952) is a leading contemporary Russian poet. An important underground literature figure in the 1970s and 80s, in the Soviet Union he worked as school teacher, tourist guide, security guard, among other jobs. He was a member of the 1970s group of poets “Moscow Time,” along with Aleksey Tsvetkov, Alexander Soprovsky, and Bakhyt Kenzheev. Gandlevsky began publishing his poems in the 1980s and today is one of the most published contemporary Russian poets, who has received many Russuian and international literary awards. His many books of poetry and prose include a bilingual edition of his poems, A Kindred Orphanhood: Selected Poems of Sergey Gandlevsky (Zephyr Press).
